From Peter Greensmith Chair of Weymouth & Portland Patient Participation Groups (PPGs)
The resident population of Weymouth and Portland is around 76,000 which as we know swells in the summer months with the arrival of holiday makers. We have 6 GP surgeries serving the population and each has a PPG. PPGs work with their surgery team representing the views of patients to help improve the provision of healthcare and strengthen the relationship between patients and the practice.
The Weymouth and Portland Locality Partnership Board was formed in 2017 with an aim of improving the populations’ health and wellbeing and the effectiveness of services. I attend the monthly partnership board meeting to represent patient views. This is to help the communication of health & wellbeing messages from the partnership board to the PPGs & thus onto the patients of these practices.
We hope more patients will join their PPG to help their Chair represent the patients views of the W&P residents.
